Public Petitions
A public petition is a formal
written request to Parliament, the Government or the Sovereign from an
individual or group of individuals. Any member of the public may petition - the
right to petition is a key constitutional right in the United Kingdom, dating
back to the Magna Carta.
Public Petitions are frequently used by MPs to
demonstrate to the Government the strength of public opinion on an issue.
